25-27 November 2024, Rome (Italy) – The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), together with the PAM Centre for Global Studies (CGS), will attend and contribute to the 10th edition of the Rome MED – Mediterranean Dialogues, a prominent international conference, co-promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI).
Hon. Giulio Centemero, PAM Vice-President, will address the MED Parliamentary Forum, sharing the Assembly’s operations background and ongoing activities, often carried in partnership with international institutions, such as the UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate (CTED), or the World Trade Organization and the World Bank This Forum aims at promoting the added value of parliamentary diplomacy to mitigate or prevent crises and to face economic challenges.
The format of the MED Dialogues is extremely interesting for PAM. In New York, at the request of UN Secretary General Guterres, PAM contributed to the preparation and running of the UN Summit of the Future, with particular focus on the parliamentary dimension of the Pact for the Future. PAM-CGS is considering the possibility to request the cooperation of Italian authorities, in order to organize, back-to-back and jointly with the 2025 MED Dialogues, a session dedicated to the parliamentary evaluation of the Pact’s implementation by Member States, with a specific focus on the strategic issue of Trust, as a key element of credible and effective Multilateral Global Governance.
Every year, the MED Dialogues gather Heads of States and Governments, Ministers, representatives from International Organizations, academia, private sector and civil society, to rethink traditional approaches to strategic issues in the region.//
